Limite da função composta

Proposição

Sejam $f : A \subset \mathbb{R} \to B \subset \mathbb{R}$ e $h : B \to \mathbb{R}$. Sejam $a$ e $b := \lim_{x \to a} f(x)$ pontos de acumulação de $A$ e $B$, respetivamente. A seguinte igualdade é válida desde que exista o limite no segundo membro e se verifique a implicação $x \not= a \Rightarrow f(x) \not= b$:

(1)
\begin{align} \lim_{x \to a} (h \circ f)(x) = \lim_{y \to b}\, h(y). \end{align}

${}$

Demonstração

Considere-se uma qualquer sucessão $(u_n)_n \subset A \setminus \{ a \}$ convergente para $a$. Então $(f(u_n))_n \subset B \setminus \{ b \}$ (porquê?) converge para $b$ (porquê?) e, portanto, $(h(f(u_n)))_n$ tende para o mesmo valor do $\lim_{y \to b} h(y)$ (porquê?).
